Ortech
advanced ceramics hybrid bearings have steel inner and outer rings and rolling
elements made from Silicon Nitride.Silicon Nitride( Si3N4 ) is a ceramic material with properties including high hardness, electrical insulation and low density. Service Life: Ortech makes hybrid bearings that give long lasting life, especially in difficult running conditions. Hybrid bearings with grease have shown to have VERY long service life even at high temperatures and high speed. Electrical Insulation: By using silicon nitride as the electrical insulation you can avoid damage which occurs when electrical current passes through the bearings which flows from one component to the next. High Speed Capability: Ortech hybrid bearings can work at a higher speed that an all steel bearing. Silicon nitride weigh 40% less that steel bearings rolling elements. What this means is that the centrifugal forces from the rolling elements will be much lower in a hybrid bearing. The friction and thus the temperature rise will be lower, which will make it possible to increase the speed. Tolerant to Poor Lubrication Conditions: Ortech hybrid bearings work much better than all steel bearings when it comes to poor lubrication. Our experience shows that superior scuffing resistance of silicon nitride under pure sliding, thanks to smoother surface and hardness of the ceramic rolling element.
